look where romney is headed. according to nbc's first read, romney was in florida yesterday and virginia today. he'll also hit wisconsin, ohio, new hampshire, and colorado before the election. the president, this is an interesting map for him, he will be in wisconsin, where he is right now, with nevada, colorado, ohio, iowa, virginia, and florida. of course, they're sending their number one surrogates, the vp nominee, out where they're not going. is this the map, centered in ohio, virginia, and florida, is it still where the action is? >> it is for governor romney for sure. it's always been the case that governor romney needs to win florida, needs to win virginia, and pretty much needs to win ohio. even then he still needs to pick up another state somewhere along the way. you can see in his map that he's spending months of his time in florida, virginia, and ohio and a little bit of time in one of those other states that he thinks he might be able to get a pickup, whether that's wisconsin, whether that's colorado.

how do you think the romney campaign sees this? >> i think you have to think about wisconsin. wisconsin and ohio -- >> this is the big question. >> if romney wins florida, north carolina, virginia and new hampshire and colorado, which are the states where he's been leading to tie in the relatively recent polls. he has to win either ohio or wisconsin. if he wins wisconsin and loses ohio, he could get to 270 that way. they are important. >> if he wins wisconsin -- again it was won by john kerry in 2004, comfortably by barack obama in 2008. it would be a swing back for wisconsin. paul ryan is on the ticket. there's some thinking there and the polling is relatively close. he would also -- if he didn't win ohio, the run of all the swing states, colorado, virginia, north carolina, florida, et cetera. >> wisconsin is interesting. we neglected wisconsin, it's very important. wisconsin is a state where we had this recall election in the past. the ground game for the republicans is very strong. a lot of things about obama has been the ground game they have developed since 2008. it's bee

romney will also be in florida as he makes three stops. paul ryan will spend the day campaigning in his home state of wisconsin. let's get back to sandy, because two of the three major airports serving the new york area, kennedy and newark, they'll start to reopen with limited service later this morning, but the super storm created a worldwide ripple effect. many are still stranded overseas. so we want to check in with michelle kosinski from london. good morning. >> reporter: right, it does have that sort of snowballing effect that we see with any major travel destruction around the world, but of course this is a big one with so many airports closed for more than one day now. one expert was estimating that more than 50,000 travelers have been affected just between new york and london. sounds like a big number for a short period of time, but it's really not when you consider that about 7,000 people on average per day traveled just between jfk and heathrow. and even thorng, we're still seeing dozens upon dozens of cancellations in heathrow a
